Pullman Train Car

The Pullman train car at the FiberMax Center for Discovery offers visitors a rare chance to step back into the golden age of rail travel. Built in 1925 during a time when trains symbolized progress and connection across America, Pullman cars set the standard for first-class travel with their fine wood interiors, velvet curtains, and the unmatched service of Pullman porters. Our Pullman car, once owned and remodeled by Arch Underwood, was used for everything from family vacations to meeting with political leaders about the cotton industry, giving it a unique local history. Later restored through the dedication of the Lubbock Heritage Society and the Underwood Family, this train car tells not only the national story of innovation and craftsmanship but also stands as a piece of Lubbock’s own heritage, inviting guests to experience travel as it was a century ago.
